Granola Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cups regular oats (alternatives: barley flakes, rye flakes, spelt (rolled), triticale flakes, or wheat flakes).

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/3 cup honey (alternatives: cane or beet sugar, rice syrup, honey crystals, barley malt extract, fruit puree, agave syrup)

  • 1/3 cup molasses (alternatives: see above)

  • 1/3 cup water (use more if dry alternatives for honey/molasses were used)

  • 3 tablespoons oil

  • 1 cup each dates (pitted and chopped) and raisins

  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup nuts or seeds as desired for a European type ‘muesli’ cereal, AFTER baking

Instructions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease 9x13” pan. Set aside. In large bowl, combine grains, seasoning salt; stir well. Set aside. In medium saucepan, combine sweetener, water, and oil; bring to a boil. Remove from heat and pour over grain mixture, stirring well to coat. Spoon mixture into jelly roll pan, spreading evenly. Bake 30 minutes or until lightly browned, stirring every 10 minutes. Remove from oven; stir in dried fruit and nuts'/seeds. Cool completely before serving.
